Riveter Industries is an answer to the skills gap in understanding the nation is experiencing an all-time low in qualified laborers. With our millennial culture coupled with the baby boomers aging out, there has never been a greater need for innovation in workforce development. We feel the Rosies answered the call to WWII, and we feel women can answer the call today.
Rosies
In 2011, Carla dressed up as Rosie the Riveter for Halloween. Although she was still on active duty, this notion of service resonated with her as she was wearing the uniform feeling as though she was a 'Rosie' in spirit. She exited the service in 2014 and decided on a career pivot which landed her to Riveter Construction, and eventually, the Engineering piece fell into place. Carla quickly realized her ability to serve her brothers and sisters in arms didn't stop while she was in the military as she saw an opportunity and a passion to impact the conditions people work in. She also saw an opportunity to get into an industry that needs a woman's touch now more than ever.
Fast forward to 2016-the call to move home to Wisconsin was made and she picked up her kids and headed east with the intent to maintain Construction | Engineering in Colorado, confident in her leadership team and frequent visits. Since the move, Carla got involved with Bunker Labs Wisconsin, a non-profit helping veteran entrepreneurs, who caught their eye on a concept Carla was only able to dream about: Riveter Industries where the modern day Rosie comes to life.
With Carla's leadership model, training, and project engagement she hopes to create a work environment without intimidation, pressure, and a flexible, family work environment where learning is the objective and quality projects are the goal. This provides a gateway into construction, trades, and other skills to consider a career maybe not considered previously. With Carla's heart for change and a trailblazing spirit, she feels more women can answer the call working alongside our tradesmen for the same cause: save the trades. These projects will not only be for cause, they will be something a community will pride themselves on watching a "Riveter Project" go up, see the Rosies in action, improve the economy, jobs, community, and complete a magazine-worthy product.
In Colorado and other military based locations, Carla envisions providing military spouses a unique opportunity to decrease the career sacrifice so many make to support a service member's call to serve. Carla understands the sacrifices her family and children have made to serve their country, only to see little support and recognition for their part to serve as well. Riveter Industries is committed to being the employer to spouses and creating a nation-wide footprint to allow spouses to transfer their trades skills' seamlessly in support of our nation's defense. By aligning with local construction and trades companies (hopeful to expand to other careers as well), Riveter seeks to put a stop to the daunting hiring process, support transfers, and fix a resume that looks like a job jumper. Most importantly, for military spouses and families to feel they have a place to go that understands their cause and sacrifice for our freedoms.
